Albero IIII by Adrian Barclay

The Spanish word used to describe the reddish-yellow colour of colour of the earth in the landscape of Andalusia. The exact colour is elusive – an ochre or light brown with a slightly red or yellow tint.
Historically ‘albero’ described the white of the lime-washed houses, and is the word for the crushed limestone used in the arena of a bullring.
This series of prints was inspired by the landscape around Gaucín in the Sierra del Hacho mountains of Málaga province in Andalusia, southern Spain.
